The Bureau of Land Management auctioned 46 parcels, a total of 28,546 acres at its quarterly land sale Thursday. Included in the auction, which garnered $4 million, was a 2060-acre parcel of subsurface mineral rights on the Parker Basin Ranch, located south of Collbran, which went for $391,400, and had been protested by several conservation groups.

The Glenwood Springs Fire Department, with assistance of other local, state and federal agencies, will hold a Community Wildfire Firewise Conference on May 17 at the Glenwood Springs Community Center.
